Does your school need help preparing for the state writing assessments? Do your teachers need resources to help improve student writing? As the State of Oklahoma prepares for Common Core Assessments in Spring 2015, schools must create a plan now to meet this academic standard. The Oklahoma Writing Project can help meet your achieve these goals.
The Oklahoma Writing Project (OWP) is a site of the National Writing Project, a professional development network. OWP serves teachers of writing at all grade levels, primary through university, and in all subjects. The mission of the OWP is to improve student achievement by improving the teaching of writing and literacy by improving learning in Oklahoma's elementary, middle, and high schools; Technology Centers and colleges.
The Oklahoma Writing Project is composed of Oklahoma Classroom Teachers who have created quality professional development workshops grounded in child development, writing research and successful classroom practices. Each inservice workshop highlights PASS objectives and demonstrates how teachers can begin right now preparing for Common Core assessments.
This summer, the State Department has already conducted professional development conferences to emphasize the importance of implementing writing tasks now to help build student stamina for future writing assessments in Common Core. Oklahoma Writing Project has conducted inservice for school districts around the state for the past 30 years.
Participants love the active hands on workshops and leave with activities to immediately implement into the classroom.
“NO BOREDOM! You did a good job of showing us student samples.
You showed us how to apply it to the classroom. Workshop involved everyone! I would love to have more time with you.”
All those comments are music to administrators’ ears—useful professional development leaving teachers wanting even more.
